Problem Note 56876: SAS® Visual Analytics web applications do not function properly when separate internal and external connections are configured
SAS Visual Analytics web applications do not function properly when separate internal and external connections are configured and certain security conditions apply. The issues occur when security restrictions prohibit the SAS® Web Application Server from reaching the defined external connection URI via the network. For example, one such restriction is the configuration of an external reverse-proxy or DMZ environment (perimeter network) where firewalls are used. Observed symptoms of this issue are an inoperable Browse button or an inability to access the SAS Visual Analytics Viewer. Typically, there is no error in the browser. It simply does not respond or the process indicator runs (spins) indefinitely.
You can diagnose the problem by using a browser request/response trace. Such a trace shows a request similar to the following, along with an error response code of 500, 401, or 403. The error code might vary, depending on the security configuration of the environment.
